Pre-Primary Room 3

April 2026

This month of April, the children explored a variety of engaging topics, including Australia, the importance of vegetables, and healthy eating habits. In celebration of Earth Day, they learned about environmental conservation while creating themed arts and crafts. They also studied the life cycle of a chicken and had fun with a “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”–inspired food art activity, where they made their own coconut trees.

In Practical Life lessons, the children strengthened important developmental skills such as pouring water into plants, using tongs to transfer cotton balls, cleaning crumbs with a dustpan and brush, and matching and folding socks. Sensorial activities included sorting beads and buttons by size, color, and texture to enhance fine motor skills, as well as exploring natural materials like avocados and pinecones to understand different physical properties.

Through role-play, the children practiced social skills such as expressing their feelings with words, apologizing after accidental bumps, and demonstrating polite table manners, all of which they thoroughly enjoyed. In Mathematics, they reviewed counting and writing numbers from 1 through 10 and were introduced to geometric solids; sphere, cube, and cylinder; by matching them to real-life objects and sorting items using flashcards.

In Phonics, the children learned the sounds “x,” “y,” and “z” through sandpaper letter tracing and picture card recognition, while also using metal inserts to practice drawing lines, curves, and patterns. Geography lessons focused on Australia, where they explored countries, climate zones, animals, habitats, and cultural elements through discussions and creative projects. Their featured book this month was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, which they loved for its rhyming patterns and interactive art and food activities.

For Science, the children learned about the life cycle of a chicken and observed an egg in an incubator, eagerly anticipating the moment it hatches. Throughout the month, they approached each activity with enthusiasm and pride and were always excited to share their work with their families.

March 2026

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day, and a very happy Easter filled with joy and special family moments.

I would like to share some highlights from our busy and exciting month of March. The children had a fantastic time engaging in a variety of art and craft projects inspired by St. Patrick’s Day, our study of Asia, and Easter. They explored different materials, colors, and techniques, and took great pride in bringing home their creative work.

This month, we also explored the wonders of nature. The children learned about seeds, how they grow and what they need to thrive, and were introduced to the concept of the animal food chain. Through discussions and hands-on activities, they began to understand how living things depend on one another in the natural world.

In our Practical Life lessons, the students practiced important everyday skills such as pouring water from a pitcher into a cup and carrying it carefully without spilling. They also learned how to use a sponge to clean up spills and how to wash a small toy in a bowl. These activities help develop coordination, concentration, and independence, and the children thoroughly enjoyed taking responsibility for their work.

For Sensorial activities, we explored making shadows using both flashlights and sunlight, which sparked curiosity and experimentation. The children also had fun mixing colors in water to discover new shades and identifying various textures through touch-based activities. In addition, we incorporated music by creating simple rhythms using drums, xylophones, and maracas, this quickly became a favorite part of our day!

Social-emotional learning remained an important focus. Through role-play activities, the children practiced identifying and expressing different emotions. We also introduced simple breathing exercises to help them learn how to calm their bodies and minds. The children were highly engaged and showed wonderful creativity and enthusiasm during these activities.

In Mathematics, the children worked on identifying and building numbers using the teen board and practiced counting objects for numbers 17, 18, 19, and 20. We also introduced skip counting by twos, fives, and tens using flashcards and number beads, helping to build a strong foundation for future math skills.

For Phonics, we introduced the letter sounds “t,” “u,” “v,” and “w” using sandpaper letters, flashcards, and objects brought in during share day. The children enjoyed connecting sounds to real-life objects and practicing their pronunciation in a fun and interactive way.

Our Geography lessons focused on Asia. The children were introduced to different countries, famous landmarks, unique cultures, traditional clothing, local animals, and some of the delicious foods from the region. These lessons helped broaden their understanding of the world and sparked many interesting conversations.

Finally, in Literature, we spent the month celebrating the wonderful and imaginative books of Dr. Seuss. The children loved the playful rhymes, colorful characters, and engaging stories, which also supported their developing language and listening skills.

It has truly been a joy watching the children learn, grow, and gain confidence this month. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another exciting month ahead!

January 2026

Wishing all Pre-Primary 3 Parents a very Happy New Year 2026!!

I Guess you all had a great vacation. Welcome back fellow students to an exciting year of 2026. Our enthusiastic little students have been busy since they started school with all the exciting work lined up for this month. We explored the following units for the month of January: Geography/History: Europe Botany: Flowers, Zoology: Animal life cycle, Science: States of Matter, Literature: The Mitten by Jan Brett, Special Subject/Events: The life cycle of a Butterfly, MLK Jr. Day.

Children learned about Europe by singing continent songs and recognizing the shape of Europe with the continent puzzle. They also learned about castles and did artwork with shapes to create a beautiful castle. Teacher discusses the different countries, flags, famous places to visit, All the different food each country is famous for (e.g. Switzerland for the chocolates, Italy for Pizza) with activity sheets.

Children were shown live caterpillars to introduce the subject about the life cycle of a Butterfly. Children kept observing the Butterfly net with a magnifying glass to see how big it grows each day and they are waiting to see the caterpillars turning into chrysalis then turning into beautiful Butterfly's.

Children were shown real Flowers to identify the texture, smell and to have a feel of it. Children did art and craft projects and colored work sheets to recognize different names of flowers. They also learned about what things can be made from the extract of flowers (e.g. Soap, perfumes, drinks, garlands).

December 2025

What a colorful and wonderful month it has been! December was truly a fun-filled month with lots of art and craft activities, dance, music, and rhythm, along with daily practice for our class Christmas recital.

Although it was a busy month, our young, talented, and eager students continued to focus on their academic lessons, including sounds, numbers, and cultural studies. This month, we explored the following units: South America, Natural Features, Environment (Amazon Forest, trees, leaves, and animals), Literature – The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, and the special subject Cultural Celebrations and Holidays.

For the continent of South America, the teacher revised the continent’s song and showed where South America is located. The children learned to name and identify some countries along with their flags (e.g., Brazil 🇧🇷, Argentina 🇦🇷, and Colombia 🇨🇴).

To introduce Natural Features and the Environment, the teacher used flashcards and collage activities. The children learned about animals that live in the Amazon Forest, as well as tall trees, large leaves, dense forests, and the region’s weather.

The Giving Tree was read to the children throughout the month. They were very interested and eager to learn how much a tree can give. The children completed artwork and colored a story booklet. The teacher asked questions about each picture, such as what the tree gave to the boy. The story follows the life of a boy from childhood to old age, highlighting how the tree continued to help him whenever he needed support.

For Cultural Celebrations and Holidays, the teacher introduced topics using flashcards and art and craft activities. The children learned about Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, and Lunar New Year.

The art and craft projects were a huge hit in the classroom, and the children enjoyed creating them with love and excitement. After completing their projects, they eagerly waited to decorate the class Christmas tree.

The Christmas recital was a resounding success. The children enjoyed every minute of practice, and on the day of the recital, they delivered a fabulous performance that made the teachers very proud.

Thank you, parents, for your continued support and encouragement, which helped make the Pre-Primary class performance such a wonderful success.

Happy Holidays to all and wishing you a very Happy New Year!

Warm regards,

Ms. Yuhana & Ms. Norma

November 2025

It is a pleasure to return in the month of November with yet another exciting update on our fun-filled activities completed by our talented and eager-to-learn little students.

During November, we explored the following units:

·        The USA and famous places to visit

·        Weather patterns in the USA

·        Colors and stars on the USA flag

·        “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” by Carol McCloud and Katherine Martin

·        Pilgrims and Native Americans (special subject)

·        Thanksgiving History (Harvest Feast)

We began by introducing the USA through the concept of continents, helping children locate the United States on the North American continent and find California on the 50 States map. The children also learned that the 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states. They enjoyed creating a sponge-painting art activity to illustrate this concept and explored famous American landmarks through a collage.

Our lessons on weather and seasons were taught and reinforced using music, discussions, and flashcards, making learning interactive and engaging. We read and discussed the book “To Fill a Bucket,” followed by role-play and a song. The children shared thoughtful ideas about positive behaviors that “fill the invisible bucket” and those that do not. The topic of Pilgrims and Native Americans was introduced through storytelling, flashcards, and role-play. The children were especially fascinated by the Native Americans and their traditional attire.

As we spoke about Thanksgiving and the Harvest Feast, the children eagerly looked forward to enjoying delicious food and showcasing their art and craft creations.

Our talented Pre-Primary kids are all set and excited to welcome December in grand style!

Thank you for all the support you’ve rendered.

With warm regards,

Ms. Yuhana and Ms. Norma

Summer 2025

Summer has come to an end, and what an eventful season it was! We enjoyed countless water play days, and the kids were huge fans of the water slides. We were thrilled to have a magician visit us, along with some fascinating reptile friends. The Vista Sheriffs also stopped by to show off their patrol car, which was incredibly exciting for the children. These visits tied in perfectly with our “Community Helpers” theme week.

Our Fridays were extra sweet with popsicles, and the summer was packed with fun crafts, from bracelet making to creative science experiments and lively dance parties. One of our favorite projects was painting with balloons during Solar System Week, it was so much fun exploring different painting tools!

Summer wrapped up with an unforgettable Field Day, complete with a playground overflowing with foam. The kids had a blast diving and playing in the foam, it was a truly memorable way to end the season.

We are beyond excited to start the new school year, especially with our Spanish Immersion class! The children are already eager to use their Spanish, and their enthusiasm for the classroom is so rewarding. Thank you to all the parents for enrolling your children in this program.
