April 2026
Queridos padres de familia: We had a very fun month!
Our students were very excited to celebrate Easter. ¡Our Easter egg hunt was amazing! They had so much fun looking for eggs in the playground. They also enjoyed a special snack, decorated their own Easter bags, and participated in many other activities. Thank you for making our Easter celebration so special by bringing treats for our students.
During Spring Break, we spent time with our families and came back excited to continue learning and celebrating together.
This month we learned about “las sílabas.” From ma, me, mi, mo, mu to cha, che, chi, cho, chu, our students practiced putting words together. They were able to identify the beginning and ending sounds of each sílaba.
In Social Studies, we focused on Oceania/Australia. It is a very interesting region, and our students enjoyed learning about the culture of countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Papúa Nueva Guinea, and others. We also explored their people, history, animals, and plants.
In Math, we learned about measuring length using rulers and meter sticks. We also explored weight, capacity, and temperature. Students practiced measuring volume using standard units and reading thermometers in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
In Language Arts, our students enjoyed reading poemas and practicing rhyming. They especially loved this month’s book, “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom,” which helped reinforce letter recognition in a fun and musical way.
In Science, we introduced the life cycle of a chicken. We learned that it takes about 21 days for an egg to hatch into a chick. It was fascinating to learn how chicks grow inside the egg.
April was an exciting month, and we are looking forward to what May has in store! We will be learning new words such as mamá, papá, hermano, hermana, primo, prima, tío, tía, and more.
Parent conferences are coming up soon! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I will be more than happy to help.
¡Estamos en esto juntos!
March 2026
Queridos padres de familia!
Wow! What a fun month filled with learning we had!
Our students were so excited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. I want to take a moment to thank all of you for making our celebrations extra special by bringing special treats to our class.
Our students were thrilled to create fluffy paint using watercolor, shaving cream and glue. We painted a beautiful rainbow using fluffy paint. They also learned a new song in Spanish called “Primavera está aquí”. Also, learning how to greet people in Spanish was the highlight of our learning experience like “buenos dias/tardes”, “Como estas?”, “muy bien gracias”, “y usted?”
This month we learned about all kinds of seeds. They had so much fun exploring and learning each and one of them. They learned that some seeds are edible and we can use them to create a delicious, delicious dish. Some animals love to eat seeds just like birds and other animals.
Our Social Studies this month were focused on Asia! Asia is a very large country, and our students were so eager to learn about the culture of her different countries. Russia, China, India, Israel and so much more. We also learned about their people, their history, their animals, and plants, and many more.

We also learned fraction equivalents and different fractions are equal using fraction in circles. Adding fractions like denominators were part of our lesson adding and subtracting simple fractions. We also reviewed simple division concepts.
In Language Arts we identified and labeled nouns in the environment and acted out verbs. We practice using adjectives to describe objects and the use of articles “a” and “the” correctly in sentences. In Spanish we also wrote sentences such as “hola señora como está?” “Hola señor como esta?” We identified words in Spanish such as semillas de calabaza, semillas de girasol and more.
In Science we introduced our students to physics and forces: Buoyancy- sink and float (se hunde o flota). We learned about water cycles, cloud types, rain gauges, and weather tools. Our students were so excited to do a science experiment using shaving cream pretending it was cloud and blue food coloring as rain inside a jar with water. It was fun!!!
Can’t wait to see what April has in store for all of us!! It’s going to be a very fun and learning experience for everyone. Our students are already excited about Easter! As we dive into a new season like spring, we will be learning more new words and sentences in Spanish like “Flores”, “abejas”, “sol”, and so much more.
Enjoy the Easter break and we’ll see you soon to celebrate together our Easter celebration here at Pacific Coast Montessori Activity!
February 2026
Queridos padres de familia,
I can’t believe we are already in the third month of 2026! Time is flying. I also want to thank every one of you for making our Valentine’s Day celebration extra special. Our students were very excited to receive all the wonderful treats that you brought.
In February, we have lived, studied, learned, laughed, sung, loved, and grown together. Our students had so much fun writing their names by themselves and watching our caterpillars come out of the chrysalis and turn into beautiful butterflies. We began the month by reinforcing our cutting and pasting skills.
Our students were introduced to the difference between “frutas y verduras.” They also learned about “los animales del Ártico,” and had so much fun getting to know each animal and its habitat. One of the highlights of this month was our students beginning to read in Spanish. This is a wonderful milestone in our class!
Our Social Studies focus this month was Africa. Africa is such a beautiful continent, and our students were thrilled to discover that elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many other animals live in the savanna. We also learned about its culture, people, history, animals, and plants.
In Math, we worked on concrete division using golden beads to divide up to four-digit numbers by one digit. We also solved division problems using the stamp game. In addition, we were introduced to racks and tubes for larger division problems and learned how to apply division to real-life scenarios.
In Language Arts, we identified subjects and predicates in simple sentences. We also recognized and wrote sentences with compound parts and placed subjects and predicates on a diagram line. Our students also began reading simple sentences in Spanish such as “Yo veo la mariposa” and “La oruga tenía mucha hambre.”
In Science, we introduced our students to sound and gravity. We explored concepts such as sound sources, pitch, and volume. For gravity, we learned why objects fall. Our students really enjoyed this part of our science studies.
We are ready for March! Our students will be excited to learn new words in Spanish and discover new things as we enter a new season. We will be saying goodbye to “invierno” and welcoming “primavera.”
January 2026
We are so excited to begin the second month of our new year! As we reflect on the start of the year, I am filled with joy and pride over everything we have accomplished together as a class. Each student has worked incredibly hard, showing enthusiasm, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning. It has been wonderful to see how eager they are to explore new ideas and concepts.
We began the month by reinforcing our Spanish knowledge, reviewing “Los días de la semana,” “Los meses del año,” and “Las estaciones del año.” The students did a fantastic job recalling and applying what they have learned.
This month, our Social Studies focus was Europe. We explored its rich culture, languages, countries, animal habitats, and so much more. The students were highly engaged and excited to learn about the uniqueness of each country, often asking thoughtful questions and sharing interesting observations.
In Math, we learned how to multiply three-digit numbers by two-digit numbers. We also practiced abstracting long multiplication using bed frames and successfully applied these strategies to real-world, practical problems.
In Language Arts, we reviewed nouns, verbs, and adjectives by sorting them into different categories. Students practiced using adverbs and prepositions in sentences and learned how to replace nouns with pronouns, strengthening both their writing and grammar skills.
In Science, we explored the states of matter; solid, liquid, and gas. The students had so much fun during our hands-on activities! We used balloons to represent gas, water for liquid, and ice for solid, making the lesson engaging and memorable for everyone.
We can’t wait to see what February has in store for us. I’m sure it will be filled with fun, meaningful learning, and lots of love as we celebrate Valentine’s Day together!
December 2025
As we approach the festive season, I would like to take a moment to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday break! This is always such a special time of year, and I hope you all can celebrate, relax, and spend quality time with your loved ones.
Looking back on the month, I am filled with pride in all that we have achieved as a class. Each student has worked incredibly hard and made wonderful progress. Whether mastering new math concepts, exploring exciting science topics, or expressing creativity through their work, I have been truly amazed by their dedication and growth. You have all helped make this year so special!
Our class has been filled with meaningful learning in both English and Spanish. From “Bartolito” to “Mi cuerpo hace música,” our students have continued to develop their language skills in many different and engaging ways. This month, we learned about Sudamérica (South America)—its culture, language, 12 countries, animal habitats, and much more. Each student showed great enthusiasm and curiosity, eager to learn more about every country we explored.
In Math, students learned how to subtract quantities to find the remainder and solve real-life subtraction problems using objects. They are also learning numbers in Spanish, counting and recognizing each number in both languages. Language Arts, we introduced phonograms such as sh, ch, th and vowel sounds ee, oo, and ai, matching sounds to pictures and words. In Spanish, students are learning vowel sounds and beginning to blend them to form words. Science, we explored natural features and environments, including rock types, minerals and their properties, volcanoes, and the layers of the Earth. The students were especially excited to see how volcanoes erupt!
Our Christmas recital was truly special. Thank you to each family for your support, especially for helping students wear Christmas colors. The children loved singing “Feliz Navidad,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Mi cuerpo hace música.”
In January 2026, we will dive into even more exciting learning adventures, and I cannot wait to see what the new year has in store for us.
May your holidays be filled with laughter, peace, and the warmth of family. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
November 2025
November has been a very special month for our Primary 6 learners. It has been wonderful to see how confidently the children are now demonstrating the skills they have been developing since the beginning of fall. Their creativity continues to grow, and it is amazing to observe how much their vocabulary has expanded both English and Spanish. Each day, they show greater independence, curiosity, and enthusiasm in their learning. All lessons this month were taught in both English and Spanish, helping the children strengthen their bilingual skills.
This month, we began exploring and learning more about our very own country, the United States of America. The children are becoming familiar with the national anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, and they proudly recite them every day. Their excitement and sense of pride during this activity have been truly inspiring.
In Math, we continue to strengthen our counting and number recognition from 1–100, as well as skip counting by 10s. We are also moving forward in mastering quantities from 1–10 and identifying various geometric shapes. Our TK/K student is introduced to place value and adding two-three digits. The children enjoy using different Montessori math materials to support their learning in addition and subtraction.
In Language Arts, we are focusing on improving our writing and phonics skills. The students have made great progress in sounding out words, forming sentences, reading 3 letter words, and expressing their ideas more confidently.
In Science, we learned about plants, their different parts and the many colorful plant varieties found in North America, especially in the United States. The children loved exploring how plants grow and why they are important.
The Thanksgiving festival was another highlight of the month. We learned about the Pilgrims, the origins of Thanksgiving, and why gratitude is such an important value. The children enjoyed participating in the celebration and showing appreciation for the things and people they are thankful for.
Our art and craft activities were equally exciting. We created beautiful bookmarks using fresh flowers and made wooden necklaces that the children decorated with great creativity and pride.
November was truly a fantastic month of learning, exploration, and joy. We are proud of how well our students are growing as bilingual learners in both English and Spanish. We look forward to all the wonderful learning adventures ahead!
October 2025
Here comes October, one of my favorite times of the year to teach! As the leaves change colors outside, our classroom is filled with excitement and discovery. We’ve been exploring the beauty of autumn and learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin. The children are fascinated by the idea that it all begins with tiny seeds that grow into bright orange pumpkins. They especially enjoyed seeing how pumpkins develop and connecting what they learned to our upcoming Harvest Carnival, where we’ll celebrate the season with fun games and creative crafts. We also spent time learning about trees, focusing on their parts, especially the roots. The children discovered the difference between deciduous trees and evergreen trees, deepening their appreciation for nature’s cycles.
This month, our learning has also taken us on a trip around the world as we explore the continents and discover how fall looks different across the globe. From the cool forests of North America to the sunny landscapes of Africa and South America, students are realizing just how diverse our planet truly is. It’s been such a joy watching their curiosity grow as they locate each continent on the map!
In Math, we’ve been writing and mastering numbers quantity 1–10, and the children are beginning their first steps into addition and subtraction. They love using real-life examples, like counting pumpkins or adding leaves, to make math come alive. It’s amazing to see their confidence bloom, just like the pumpkins we studied!
It is more exciting because our learning lessons are being beautifully translated into Spanish by Ms. Norma, our wonderful Spanish teacher. The children love hearing and repeating words in both English and Spanish. It’s helping them see how language connects us all. Fall truly reminds us that learning, like the seasons, is full of color, change, and joy.
September 2025
What a wonderful beginning to our 2025–2026 school year in the Primary classroom! The children returned with bright smiles, eager to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new classmates. It didn’t take long for them to spot the fresh materials on the shelves, and they jumped right into their work with excitement and confidence.
September was all about celebrating who we are. The children enjoyed practicing introductions and sharing fun facts about themselves—favorite foods, favorite colors, and even what they dream of becoming when they grow up. They proudly displayed their family photos and talked about what makes each of them unique. As part of our “All About Me” theme, we also explored the five senses through hands-on activities. In art, the children created self-portraits on paper plates, made vibrant Warhol-inspired handprint art, and connected our literature study with a sweet project inspired by The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.
We also launched into an engaging study of plants and animals. The children learned how to care for plants by gently tending to their leaves, feeling the soil to check for moisture, and discussing the essential elements plants need to survive. They eagerly helped maintain our garden beds outdoors—getting a little messy was part of the fun! We compared living and non-living things, asking questions like: Does it breathe? Does it move? Does it eat or grow? This led us into our animal study, where we observed how different animals communicate through sounds and movement and identified their basic parts. Our featured topic of the month was the life cycle of a frog. The children were fascinated to discover that frogs begin life with gills and transform dramatically as they develop lungs and grow into adult frogs.
Summer 2025
As we say goodbye to summer, we can’t help but reflect on all the excitement the season brought! Our days were filled with splash-tastic water play, and the water slides were a definite hit among the children. We were lucky enough to welcome a magician and some amazing reptiles to campus, and the visit from the Vista Sheriffs—complete with their patrol car—was a major highlight. These special guests fit perfectly with our “Community Helpers” theme.
Fridays felt extra festive thanks to popsicles, and the summer was overflowing with hands-on creativity. From friendship bracelets and colorful art projects to science experiments and impromptu dance parties, the children stayed busy exploring and discovering. A standout moment was our Solar System Week balloon-painting activity—such a fun way to try something new!
We closed out the season with an unforgettable Field Day, featuring a foam-filled playground that the kids could not get enough of. Watching them jump, laugh, and play in mountains of foam made for the perfect grand finale to summer.
Now, we are thrilled to launch into a brand-new school year—especially with the start of our Spanish Immersion class! The children have already shown so much excitement and confidence as they begin using their Spanish. Thank you to all of our wonderful families for choosing this program. We can’t wait for all the meaningful, joyful learning experiences ahead!!
