Toddler Room 1

April 2026

In April, our classroom journey took us across the globe as we explored the fascinating continent of Australia. The children practiced locating Australia on both the globe and a world map, building early geography and spatial awareness skills. They enjoyed matching and classifying animals native to the region, which supported their ability to observe similarities and differences while expanding their vocabulary. We also explored a variety of plant life and were introduced to cultural elements such as traditional clothing, music, and foods, helping the children develop an appreciation for diversity and global cultures through meaningful discussion and hands-on activities.

In Practical Life, we focused on activities that foster independence, concentration, and coordination, key foundations of early childhood development. The children practiced transferring cotton balls using tongs, strengthening their fine motor control and hand-eye coordination. They also learned how to care for their environment by cleaning up spills and crumbs with a dustpan and brush, promoting responsibility and self-confidence. Additionally, they nurtured a small potted plant using a spray spout, which encouraged a sense of routine, patience, and respect for living things. These purposeful activities quickly became classroom favorites as the children took pride in their growing independence.

Sensorial experiences were another highlight this month, offering opportunities for the children to refine their senses and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Through tasting explorations of sweet, salty, and sour foods, they began to identify and describe different flavors, building language and sensory awareness. Water-pouring activities using funnels and spouts allowed them to experiment with volume and flow, laying early foundations for scientific thinking. One of the most engaging activities was shape-building with clay, where the children used their creativity and fine motor skills to form a variety of shapes, strengthening both their imagination and tactile awareness.

A special highlight this month was our study of the life cycle of a chicken. The children participated in hands-on arts and crafts to sequence each stage of the cycle, reinforcing their understanding of order and change over time. Observing the process from egg to chick brought excitement and curiosity into the classroom, as they eagerly checked in each day to see the progress. This experience encouraged observation skills, patience, and a deeper appreciation for living things and natural processes.

We are excited to continue our learning journey in May as we explore the continent of Antarctica. Upcoming themes will include plant groups and habitats, animal categories, and space and planets. These topics will provide even more opportunities for discovery, creativity, and critical thinking. Thank you for your continued support, we look forward to another wonderful month of learning and growth together!

March 2026

In March, we explored the fascinating continent of Asia. The children learned to locate Asia on both the globe and the world map, helping them build early geography skills and spatial awareness. They matched pictures of animal’s native to Asia, such as pandas, tigers, and elephants, and discussed their habitats. We also explored different plants and cultural elements, including traditional clothing, music, and foods from various Asian countries. The children especially enjoyed learning about how people live in different parts of the world and discovering both similarities and differences.

In Practical Life, we continued to strengthen independence and coordination through meaningful, hands-on activities. The children practiced pouring water from one pitcher to another, focusing on control and careful movement. They also used sponges to clean up spills, learning responsibility and care for their environment. A class favorite was washing toys and classroom objects in a bowl of water and soap. This activity not only built fine motor skills but also gave the children a sense of pride in caring for their classroom.

A very special highlight this month was our classroom St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The children enjoyed festive activities, art projects, and coming together as a class to celebrate. Another memorable moment was sharing our beautifully decorated eggs during one of our share days. The children were excited to present their creations and practice speaking in front of their peers.

We can’t wait to see what April has in store! Next month, we will be exploring the continent of Oceania, where the children will learn about new countries, animals, and cultures. Our themes will also include vegetables and environmental science, encouraging healthy habits and awareness of the world around us. Some special events to look forward to including the Week of the Young Child, learning about the life cycle of a chicken, and celebrating Earth Day. We have so many fun and meaningful experiences ahead!

Thank you for your continued support and we are looking forward to another wonderful month of learning and growth together.

February 2026

In February, our class explored the fascinating continent of Africa! The children began by locating Africa on both the globe and a world map, helping them build their understanding of geography and where different continents are in the world. We also worked on matching and identifying animals that are native to Africa. The children enjoyed learning about animals such as lions, elephants, giraffes, and zebras, and we talked about the environment where these animals live.

In addition to animals, we explored different plants and cultural elements found across Africa. The children looked at pictures of traditional clothing, listened to African-inspired music, and learned about some foods that are commonly enjoyed in different regions. These activities helped the children begin to appreciate the diversity of cultures and traditions around the world.

For Practical Life, the children practiced stacking cups, which helps develop hand–eye coordination, concentration, and fine motor skills. Another popular activity was wiping tables with small clothes. The children took great pride in helping keep our classroom clean and orderly, and this quickly became a classroom favorite! Practical life activities allow children to build independence while also learning to care for their environment.

A very special highlight this month was our Valentine’s Day classroom celebration. The children were very excited to pass out their valentines to their friends and practice kindness and sharing. We talked about friendship and ways we can show appreciation for others. Everyone also enjoyed a special treat together, which made the day even more memorable.

We can’t wait to see what March has in store! Next month, we will be exploring the continent of Asia. Our themes will include Seeds, the Animal Food Chain, and Physics and Forces, where the children will begin to explore how things move and interact in the world around them.

Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to another wonderful month of learning and discovery together!

January 2026

Happy New Year and welcome to 2026! We are so excited to begin the new year with growing smiles, growing independence, and growing friendships. January was a joyful month of transitions and new beginnings as we welcomed two new friends into our classroom. It has been wonderful to see the children practicing kindness, inclusion, and cooperation as they build new relationships and strengthen their sense of community.

This month, we explored the continent of Europe. The children located Europe on both the globe and the map, strengthening their early geography and spatial awareness skills. They matched pictures of animal’s native to Europe and learned about a variety of plants and cultural elements, including traditional clothing, music, and foods. These activities supported cognitive development, memory, and language growth as children expanded their vocabulary and world knowledge.

In Practical Life, the children practiced independently taking off and putting on a hat. This activity supported fine-motor development, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and self-help skills. Many children showed increased confidence and persistence as they worked through the steps on their own, celebrating their growing independence.

In Math, we introduced the Red Number Rods, which quickly became a class favorite. Through this hands-on material, children began developing an understanding of quantity, number order, and visual discrimination of length. This work supports early numeracy skills, logical thinking, and problem-solving, all while strengthening focus and coordination.

For Language, the children explored the concepts of hot and cold by matching pictures. This activity encouraged vocabulary development, classification skills, and expressive language as children described objects and shared their ideas with peers. Many children demonstrated progress in verbal communication and confidence when participating in group discussions.

A very special highlight this month was a visit from Coconut Dentist Smile. The children enjoyed an engaging presentation about dental health, learned the importance of brushing and flossing, and practiced proper brushing techniques. Each child was generously gifted with a toothbrush kit, reinforcing healthy habits and personal care routines at home and school.

We are so proud of the children’s progress this month, from increased independence and social confidence to growing academic curiosity and communication skills. We can’t wait to see what February has in store! Next month, we will be exploring the continent of Africa, with themes including Fruits, Animal Habitats, Sound, and Gravity.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another wonderful month of learning and growth together!

December 2025

I can't believe we are coming to the end of December 2025! This month truly flew by and was filled with so much laughter, warmth, and love.

In December, we learned and explored the continent of South America. The children located it on both the globe and map, and matched pictures of animal’s native to South America. We also dove into plants and cultural items such as clothing, music, and food.

For grace and courtesy, we practiced washing our hands properly, pushing in our chairs quietly, walking around a work rug instead of stepping on it, and sitting quietly during circle time. This is one of the Montessori core practices that we let our little learners practice every day.

A special highlight this month was our Holiday Winter Recital. Seeing all the children sing and dance to their holiday songs was truly amazing. Watching the parents smile, sing along with them, and hearing their laughter made it such a wholesome and heart-warming experience.

We can’t wait to see what the first month of the new year, January 2026 will bring! Next month, we will be exploring Europe. Our themes will include the following: Flowers, Animal Life Cycles, and States of Matter.

Warmly,

Ms.Angie &  Ms.Marizol

I can’t believe how fast November came and went! 🍂

This month we said our goodbyes to a friend who moved up and welcomed a new one into our class!😊

In November, we learned about the parts of a flower and explored the U.S.A. We viewed pictures of famous landmarks such as the Grand Canyon and the Statue of Liberty. For geography and history, we learned about well-known animals found in the U.S, including the bison, bald eagle, and bears!

For grace and courtesy, we practiced how to say “excuse me” when passing by someone, how to cover our sneezes and coughs, and how to properly blow our nose and dispose of tissues.

A special highlight this month was our Harvest feast! The children decorated turkey hats and created Thanksgiving placemats to take home. Everyone had a wonderful time. 🤗

We can't wait to see what December brings! Next month, we will be exploring South America. Our themes will include leaves, animal life cycles and cultural celebrations and holidays.

October 2025

October came so quickly, I can’t believe we’re already entering November! 🎃🍂

This past month, we welcomed three new friends and said goodbye to one friend who moved up to pre-primary. We’re so proud of everyone's growth!

October was filled with exciting and hands-on activities for the children to explore! We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin, the children even had the chance to scoop out pumpkin seeds and take them home! 🎃

For geography and history, our focus was on North America, where we explored different plants, animals, and cultures across the continent.

Our enrichment activities were a class favorite this month! While cooking, we made yummy spider crackers using cream cheese, pretzels and Ritz crackers. For Art, the children created their own adorable Jack-O-Lanterns! 🎨

In Practical Life, we focused on important everyday skills– practicing how to push in our chairs after sitting, handing objects to teachers properly, and transferring objects from one bowl to another with care and concentration.

We can’t wait to see what November brings! Next month, our theme will be Stems and we’ll begin learning all about the U.S.A.

September 2025

What a fun and busy summer we had in the toddler classroom!

Our calendar was packed with exciting visitors! A few highlights included Professor Egghead, who amazed us with hands-on experiments, and the Critter Squad, who introduced us to some of their fascinating friends like snakes, spiders, frogs, and more!

Each week brought something new and exciting– Bubble Day Tuesdays, Water Day Wednesdays, and Popsicles Fridays to cool us down. We also explored engaging themes such as STEA M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), the Circus, Community Helpers, Bugs, and the Ocean. These themes allowed the children to spark new interests and curiosities each week.

We ended our summer with a FOAM PARTY, complete with music, food and joyful moments spent together. The kids had an absolute blast!

Now, as we prepare for a brand-new school year, our classroom is filled with joy and excitement. We’re so thrilled to welcome new friends, build lasting friendships, and dive into fresh lessons and discoveries. Here’s to a 2025-2026 school year filled with learning, laughter, and countless amazing memories together!
