Toddler Room 2
Summer News
We have so many fun activities planned for our summer program. We will have weekly themes and fun art projects to go along with them. I can’t wait to hear the laughter of our happy children splashing on water days and all the fun activities that our school has planned for summer to share with our friends.
June Recap
Our toddlers learned a lot about transportation this month and our beautiful state of California. We learned about steam engines, airplanes and made accordion buses. They learned where cars and buses drive and that planes fly. Our group art was of California with beaches made of real sand and pasting pictures of ocean and animal life on the land and in the water. It was exciting to see the children pointing to the art when forming relationships between land and water life, in books we would read in class.
Thank you to all the family members who came to participate in our Father’s Day celebration. It was so wonderful to see everyone’s smiling face enjoying a donut. Our toddlers worked hard on the mugs that they gifted you, and we hope you can get lots of smiles and good use from it. We made it to the end of our academic year, and we could not be prouder of everyone in class. Their skills are growing each day!
May Recap
May was busy with learning the story of how dinosaurs became extinct. We learned, too, that the dinosaurs left fossils and bones behind and learned which ones ate meat and which ones ate plants. It was interesting to observe the children taking the dinosaur figurines outside and pretending to feed them the leafy plants on our playground. Later, we created our own fossils in class, and using similar tools, buried and dug up plastic and realistic dinosaur bones like a real Paleontologist! As we were digging in the sandbox strong language was developing as the children could be heard saying, “Excavation!” We also reviewed several of our letters’ beginning sounds by tracing and matching pictures to the same sounds. On May 10th, our school held a Mother’s Day Tea for our moms. Mothers and children made a craft together, and moms opened a potholder with their child’s own handprint! The continent of Africa was the study for May, and we learned its location on the globe, as well as its cultural people, music, and how to make a traditional African Rain Stick for dance.
April Recap
April was a month of many interesting activities in our Toddler 2 classroom. We learned the Geographical location for the continent of Australia and many of the creatures living there on land and sea. As we learned about Australia and New Zealand’s many volcanoes, we prepared to erupt our own at school! Keeping our Earth beautiful and protected, our toddlers picked up clean trash from water and in grass at school and even added beautiful flowers to our flower box outside.
